Keto Air Fryer Corn Dogs are crisp, yummy, low-carb, corn-free, battered, and air-fried hot dogs.

These have only three ingredients and are coated in a cheesy fat-head dough that will make you feel like a kid at a carnival again.

The ingredients for making keto corn dogs.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • ¾ cups almond flour
    • 6 frankfurter pork sausages or hot dogs, cut in half
    • 12 wooden sticks

See printable recipe card for more details.

    Instructions

    Pin

Bring a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the shredded cheese along with the almond flour, heating and stirring frequently for 5 minutes until a dough forms. Reserve to slightly cool.

Inserting a stick into each hot dog.

Insert the wooden stick into each hot dog. Reserve. You may need to measure and cut wooden sticks in advance depending on the size of the air fryer.

Take 1 heaping tablespoon of fathead dough and press it flat and wrap and form around each hot dog with your hands. Squeeze well to seal the corn dog.

    Pin

Line a parchment paper cut to size in your air fryer basket. Arrange the dogs into the Air Fryer (might need to fry in small batches depending on the size of your air fryer) and bake for 5 to 8 minutes at 350º F until golden brown.

Hint: You might need to air fry the corn dogs in small batches of three at a time depending on the size of your air fryer. You may also have to measure and cut your wooden sticks in advance before inserting them into hot dogs (depending on the size of your air fryer).

    Equipment

I used an Air Fryer to make this recipe.

    Storage

Cooked corn dogs can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 4 days. They can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes until warm.

My son is allergic to almonds. We’re keto so what I could sub for the almond flour? Would golden flaxmeal work? I’m tempted to try it and see. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Andrea, I have not tried these yet, but my son is on the AIP diet right now and we have been using tigernut flour (not a nut or seed) or cassava flour in most recipes lately. He can't have any dairy or smoked or processed meats right now, not even the uncured, sugar-free ones, so I can't try this hot dog recipe on him yet.

These are great. I think next time I might add 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of corn flavoring extract to see if it gives it more of a corn dog taste - as the corn crust was always my favorite part. But, I enjoyed immensely. Thank you!

I also love that corn flavor! I did try it with sweet corn flavor extract from Amazon. I did 1/2 a teaspoon but it wasn’t enough to add any significant flavor I think I’ll try it with more next time! I also added Splenda sugar substitute to the almond flower to help with the sweet corn flavor too. However i didn’t add enough of that either the saltiness of the mozzarella really cancels it all out so if you try it be generous.

I didn't even know "corn flavoring" was a thing. You learn something new every day.

How would these do baking in the oven? I usually have a houseful of boys; so, I need to make a bunch at once.

Yum! What a great idea to use cheese for the breading! I love how crispy the air fryer makes these.

KW, I think you could, but I can't try it, as I can't even have all-purpose flour in the house because of my Celiac issues.
