Bacon Brussels Sprouts Pork Chop Skillet

I was surprised at how much my hubby and kids loved this skillet meal, and they even ate all the brussels sprouts! If it gets my family to eat the veggies then that is a win in my book.

3  Reasons Why You  Should Include Brussels Sprouts in Your Diet:

    • Brussels sprouts are naturally high in fiber
    • Brussels sprouts  contain glucosinolate and are at the top of the list for cancer-preventing cruciferous vegetables
    • Brussels sprouts contain phytonutrients that help our body to promote detoxification.

Cheryl, you can use forzen Brussels sprouts if you defrost them before cooking.

Holy heck! Wow - we are in love with this dish! I've been trying to find ways to cook Brussels sprouts for ages but never loved any of the past recipes. This, though, is like heaven! We aren't massive pork fans in our house hold so we use chicken thighs in place of pork. This is so good it's likely to become a weekly dinner dish!

We tried this tonight and were very pleased with the results. I doubled the amount of Brussels sprouts (we love them) and reduced the amount of applesauce by 1/2 to keep the carb level lower. The combination of flavors was really unique - onions, bacon, sprouts and chops...it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Julie, you could leave out the balsamic vinegar if you want to. I love it and buy it at Trader Joe's. But there are many flavors in the recipe, so the balsamic won't be a deal breaker to omit.

I made this for supper tonight and it was delicious! I am only a week into trying to go keto and am wondering about the carbs vs. sugars. Wouldn't the sugar be counted as a carb? Thanks for the yummy recipe and for any insight you can offer on my question.

Thank you Suzanne. The sugars grams in the nutritional data are already included in the total carb amount. The sugar amount lets you know how many of the carbs come from sugars, as not all carbs are sugars. Hope this clears up the confusion on carbs and sugars-

The total carbohydrate amount on the label indicates how many grams of carbohydrate are in one serving; sugars are already included in that total. The “sugars” section of the label shows the amount of natural and added sugar (if any) in the food.

This looks yummy. I like the idea of the mustard and the balsamic vinegar in this dish, I'm sure they make the pork taste great. Shared!
